Knitting Rules Apr 27, 2008 I bought this for my daugther, who is an incredible, published knit pattern maker and knitter extraordinaire. This author's blog is hilarious and this book, according to my daughter, is the best in her series.

Fun read, but I wouldn't make it the only knitting book you have Apr 07, 2008 I borrowed this from the library and really enjoyed it - it made me laugh. However, I didn't find it all that useful in learning to knit, it was more entertainment for those who know how to knit. Her musings on gauge are funny, but she doesn't tell you what to do if you can't get gauge (for that, I recommend Debbie Stoller's Stitch n' Bitch Nation to instruct you on gauge ration).
The patterns weren't very interesting to me. Perhaps too basic, but I've only been knitting 6 months.
Overall, a fun read, better for entertainment than instruction, I think. My favorites are the Stitch n' Bitch books, for funny, yet informative knitting instruction.

Knitting Rules! Mar 24, 2008 The Yarn Harlot is a riot! she leads us through her vast knowledge of the art of knitting, while making it fun and leaving us with a reference to use again and again.
Charming and practical Feb 14, 2008 Having first read Stephanie Pearl-McPhee in the old days on the Knitlist, I eagerly look forward to her charming and tear-inducingly-funny books. This one does not fail to produce. There is much practical advice as well as very funny stories. If you're an obsessive knitter or know one, this book will tickle your funny bone and help you knit better besides.
Highly recommended

Not as good as the first, but... Jan 31, 2008 I liked Yarn Harlot much better, but this is still a great book for fiber lovers everywhere. I think what confused me a bit was, is it a pattern book? A humor book? A memoir? There was a little bit of everything which could have been great but instead just frazzled my already-addled brain. I didn't know if I should read it straight-through or only refer to the sections I was interested in at that point in time. Oh, well... she's still darned funny.
